The Yamaha G2 5'8'' grand piano may be the ideal home instrument for serious pianists. Big enough to produce a wonderful tone but small enough to fit in many rooms. This piano built new in 1993; it was in a private home and was well maintained.
This G2 is as musically enjoyable as it is visually appealing; it has a smooth, responsive action and a lovely tone with a wide expressive range and ample body and power.
Over the years, the Yamaha G and C series became very similar in design. By the mid-1990s the design of the G2 so closely resembled the larger C-series grands that Yamaha decided to simplify their product lines by renaming the G2, making it the new model C2 (now known as the C2X). In most respects, this mid-90s G2 differs from the much more expensive C2X in name only; it makes this piano a tremendous value.
Acoustically speaking, grand pianos which are 5-1/2' to 6-1/2' in length are almost ideally sized for an even, balanced tone across the entire instrument. Large enough to accommodate bass strings that give the instrument power, volume, and fullness, but not so large that the bass overpowers the treble register. It's optimally sized to give you the smoothest, most even transitions from the very bottom to the top. You're going to love it!
