This Yamaha studio upright piano, Model WX7F, was purchased new in the United States in the 1990s; it has been privately owned and well maintained.

The Model WX7F is a premium variant of Yamaha's flagship U3 studio upright piano, featuring many upgrades and refinements.  Compare to the current Model YUS5.

This instrument features the following upgraded elements not found in the standard U3 design:

• Radial ('X' Back) Post Design: Adds additional strength to the structure of the cabinet and helps to retain the crown of the soundboard from additional angles compared to standard vertical posts. Improves tone projection, power, and sustain.
• Vented Front Panel: Allows direct sound to reach the player from the front of the piano, superior to standard upright designs which rely on indirect sound projected from the rear of the piano.
• Premium Action Parts: Upgraded Yamaha materials used in the construction of the action.  Designed to provide a fuller tone with more depth and richness than the standard U3.
• Contoured cabinet with beveled edges
• Grand Piano Style Music Rack: Larger and more robust than the standard U3 music rack, situated at eye level for more comfortable reading.
• Center Pedal Sostenuto: This selective sustain function is typically reserved for professional grade grand pianos, not available in standard U-series uprights.

Rare Satin American Walnut finish.

Yamaha pianos feature ebony finishes almost exclusively - it's extremely rare that we come across one in this lovely Satin American Walnut finish.  It's a great choice for more classic interiors and rooms where a black piano would be inappropriate.
