First produced in 1966, the Steinway Model F is among the most beautiful furniture console pianos ever built and the smallest pianos ever produced by Steinway. These pianos were the result of ongoing research and experimentation to develop a 40-inch high piano that would be musically balanced like a quality grand piano. The strings were designed with more even balance in tension, paying special attention to each string’s length for maximum tonal results. This included reducing the bass section to 28 notes and improving the break between the bass and center sections.
The classic dignity of 18th Century England is gracefully preserved with this superb adaptation of the style of the master designer. With a stunning hand-carved music desk and legs, the Hepplewhite cabinet (also known as Sketch F-73) would be welcome in virtually any design style from traditional to transitional.
