Select the type that best matches the examples below. If your piano has strings, choose upright or grand, even if it plugs into the wall or has additional electronic components installed on it.

Grand Pianos have strings that are arranged horizontally, usually from front to back.

Upright Pianos have strings that are arranged vertically, from top to bottom. Spinet, console, and upright grand pianos are all varieties of upright pianos.

Digital Pianos have no strings. Their sound is created electronically and is projected through speakers. Please note: We only deal in digital pianos that have full 88-note weighted action keyboards.

The brand is the name that is visible on the front of the piano, usually just above the keys. (Examples: Steinway, Yamaha, Baldwin)

The model is usually found inside the piano with the lid open, near the front of a grand piano or top of an upright piano. It's often a short series of letters and/or numbers either painted or embossed on the cast-iron harp.

Don't see it? That's okay. Some pianos don't show a visible model number anywhere. Just make sure to give us the brand, size (height or length) and serial number so we can give you an accurate value.

The serial number is usually found inside the piano with the lid open, near the front of a grand piano or top of an upright piano. It's often a long series of letters and/or numbers (usually 5 or more characters) and is painted on the cast iron harp.

Examples

Steinways typically feature another 4-digit number prominently on the inside of the piano. This is not the serial number. Look for a longer (5+ digit) number.

Measure the height of your upright piano, all the way to the top.

Measure the maximum length of the piano front-to-back, including the keys. Use the red line as a guide.
