How large is this piano?
All grand pianos have virtually identical Width and Height. Length is the only dimension that varies dramatically from one grand piano to the next.
Please note: These dimensions are estimates only. Due to cosmetic differences in cabinet trim, exact dimensions of any specific example of this model may vary.
Why is Length important? Longer pianos allow for longer strings and greater soundboard surface area, so they usually produce more sound than smaller pianos, but they naturally occupy more space.
What size should I buy? Most industry professionals recommend choosing the longest piano that your space can comfortably accommodate.
An affordable, classic Steinway.
This Model O is Steinway's classic Living Room Grand piano design. For much of the 20th century it was unavailable to buyers in the United States as it was produced in the Hamburg factory only. The Model O was restored to US production in 2005 and it is now the current design available at this size point for Steinways worldwide.
This Model O was originally crafted in New York in 1911. It received substantial restoration work recently (likely within the last 5 years), and the result is a supremely satisfying musical instrument that will be a treasured heirloom for generations to come. It features a lovely figured mahogany finish.
Recent restoration work performed.
Based on our inspection, the recent restoration of this piano included the following:
- New pinblock

- New Steinway historic soundboard decal applied
- New strings and tuning pins
- New understring felts
- Regilt harp with hand-stenciled lettering
- Restored action with replaced wippens, hammers, shanks, and flanges
- New Steinway & Sons contemporary fallboard decal applied
- New keytops
Gorgeous tone.
The tone of this instrument is classic Steinway: Rich, full, and complex with a great capacity for power and depth. It will be a worthy instrument for a pianist at any level, or anyone who appreciates the finest in American pianocraft.
Amazing Value!
The Model O is still available new from Steinway; the currently-available Crown Jewel Mahogany Model O lacks the figured grain pattern present in this instrument and sells new for over $154,500. We're confident you'll appreciate this piano's amazing value.
