How large is this piano?
All upright pianos have virtually identical Width and Depth. Height is the only dimension that varies dramatically from one upright piano to the next.

Rare Polished Mahogany finish.
Yamaha pianos feature high-polished ebony finishes almost exclusively - it's extremely rare that we come across one in this attractive Polished Mahogany finish. It's a great choice for more classic interiors and rooms where a polished black piano would be inappropriate. It's a fantastic musical instrument in a package that is very aesthetically appealing.

Enjoyable to play.
We found this U3 to be particularly enjoyable to play. The action is classic Yamaha - quick and light with great repetition. The tone is crisp and clear (like all Yamaha U series uprights) but with a great degree of body and fullness. A heavier hand will produce a great powerful tone that's surprisingly big for an upright. It has a great expressive range and will speak sweetly or boldly depending on how it's played.
New design features.
Although the overall design of the U3 has remained unchanged over the many decades of its production, this U3 includes a few useful features not found on U3's of previous generations, including:
- Slow-fall fallboard: Protects young hands injury by rapidly closing the fallboard.
- Lid prop stick: Allows some direct sound to emanate forward from the top of the piano, emulating the effect of opening the lid on a grand piano.
